The Dina formation at Evesham is an estuarine channel complex developed in palaeo-geographic lows on the Devonian unconformity surface. Wells produce oil from shallower zones in the area, but are generally drilled through the Dina formation and logged. As a consequence, excellent control is available to characterize the Dina sand reservoir and to define the oil-water contact. This analysis, along with Tuscany’s high quality 3D seismic database, enabled detailed mapping of the Dina reservoir.
In 2009, Tuscany drilled the initial HZ 2B9-21-39-27 W39 well on a 3D seismically defined high, with the horizontal section drilled between two existing vertical wells with demonstrated oil pay in the Dina and followed this with a second at the end of the year, HZ 16-16-39-27 W3M.
In 2010, Tuscany drilled the third HZ 1A8-21-3B15-16-39-27W3 well that is currently producing at a restricted rate of approximately 130 barrels of oil per day with less than a 12% water cut. This is the third and most successful horizontal well drilled to date in this Dina pool, on the 1320 acre prospect. Tuscany is preparing a development plan for the pool. Based on geology and proprietary 3D seismic, full development could require more than 60 horizontal oil wells, with associated surface and water handling facilities. The drilling of the next two horizontal wells is planned for the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2010. Tuscany is the operator and holds a 60 % working interest in the lands.

Horizontal drilling is the only economically viable method to recover Dina oil for
Evesham type pools. Cumulative production from over 190 horizontal wells in the
area averages over 127,000 barrels of oil per well. Analogous pools in the area,
Senlac and Eyehill, have produced 44 million and 9.6 million barrels of oil respectively.
Tuscany’s pool with volumetric oil in place of 60m million barrels can be developed with over 30 wells, a total capital project of $28 plus million dollars, and funded over 3 years.
Production should be well above 1000 Boepd after two years of this project.
